Kicked Out

Dorothy is giving a shower for one of her niece's daughters. She is going to have a baby. They already know whether it will be a boy or a girl. I told Dorothy I didn't want to know. I think it's like sneaking a peek at a Christmas gift. Well, Dorothy tells me I need to stay away from the house while the party is going on. Don't throw me in the briar patch; like I would want to hang around all that yacking. Dorothy asked me if I thought I could find something to do. Something to do? I live in Harper, Mississippi and there's hundreds of things to do here. I plan to start out fishing. Then I will go out to Ezra Heeks farm to look at his new horse. He bought it down in Louisiana last week. Then I will drop by the barbershop to find out what's going on down there. I may even sit out front and whittle awhile. They are paving a stretch of Ickle Road and I may watch that for a while. Marvin Wilslow just got home from the hospital after hernia surgery. I may visit him. The Harper Methodist Church has a bunch of kids selling pumpkins. When I passed there yesterday they had a lot left. They may need help hauling a bunch off.
Can I find anything to do? You gotta be kidding me.
