Peachtree Road Race
Dorothy and I watched the Peachtree Road Race on TV this morning. We got interested because my Atlanta cousin lives a block away from the route and we have visited on the Fourth of July so we could walk up and watch the runners go by. The Peachtree, as they call it, has a 6.2 mile course right down, you guessed it, Peachtree Road from Buckhead to Piedmont Park. They usually have 60,000 runners but the weather was rainy today and they probably didn't hit that number. In addition to the runners they have wheelchair races just before the professional men begin. Then come the professional women and then the regular runners. Toward the end those who walk all are part of the course take off. It is a fun race to watch because people dress in all kind of outfits and wave flags and cheer. It gives people, both runners and watchers, a chance to blow off a little steam and to celebrate our country.
